Punta Colorada

Hi, Chris here
It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything; hope you find this tip useful.
There comes a time when you have a second home, that you’ve done about everything there is to do. This last long-term visit was our third and we have reached that point. What’s left are the simple things you do at home when you have free time. For us that means reading! And what better place is there to read than the beach? We have seen all the beaches between the Brazilian border and Piriapolis, and for our money, Punta Colorada is the best.
The rock formations and the colors within them are visually quite stunning. So, this is my vote for best beach in the country, beautiful, underpopulated, excellent water clarity and close to home. This stretch of beach is only about 10 minutes from our flat.
Until next time,
Chris

The best beach in the country? no doubt…
but, the best bitch in the country? well , that remains to be seen, now that you mention PUTA COLORADA (RED-HAIRED BITCH)…
Not many redhairs around here, Chris, and, I guess, even less of them bitches, hehe
Talk about language nuances,uh… guess we´ve done that already; and hope this little typo encourages you to go on learning Spanish
Once again, I agree with you that the beach east of Punta Colorada is the best in Uruguay…hmmm, nice remembrances from my youth when I used to camp there, and was literally the King of the Beach (all by myself, if you don´t count the lady companion…)
cheers

Alex-
Well…I didn’t catch this when Chris showed it to me. However, let me assure you, I know the difference between a bitch and the term point, in several languages, including Spanish.
This is ain’t much of a nuance, very different words, no?
I guess we’re both revealed…..neither one of us spell in Spanish worth a damn!

To the blond Chris. I think Punta Colorado is beautiful as I have a beautiful view of it from my home. I disagree with you on the beach. I think San Francisco Beach is best.

My two cents on this. I’m not sure which one it is officially, but the beach where the SOS marine fauna rescue center in Punta Colorada is, that’s one of our favorite beaches, because no matter how rough the ocean may be, it’s always sheltered enough for a swim without frearing for your life.
I love the beach across our house (Barra de Portezuelo, el Moonlight), but after 11 in the morning, the tides turn, the winds pick up (this being known around here as the “virazon”) and it gets a bit scary.
